Getting this Blog thing started…..

Greetings out there in the bloggy world…..  I have been thinking about starting up a blog for quite a while now.  So, here goes.  I’ve been running for a pretty long time now, and have decided to tackle my biggest feat yet this summer – I’m attempting to run the Vermont 100 on July 21-22 this year (yes, it starts on the 21st and ends on the 22nd).

I get a lot of mixed reactions when I tell people what I’m doing.  And by mixed, I mean they all say I’m crazy.  But that’s totally fine – you obviously have to be more than a little nuts to even want to attempt to run 100 miles in a day.   But, there are lots of people out there who have run this race, and many other 100 milers and beyond.  I’m by no means in uncharted territory here as far as trail running goes.  But for me?  this is definitely a big deal.

Even the craziest of us suffer from a lack of motivation and the creeping “can I do this” doubt from time to time.  There are definitely days when it is hard to get off the couch.  So, I’ve decided to keep track of all of it from here on out, the ups, downs, good days and bad – both to help keep myself motivated and on track, but also to hopefully help motivate and inspire someone else out there to pick a goal and go for it.  It doesn’t have to be 100 miles….. but pick something you want to do, dare to believe you can do it, and go for it.  There is no “win or lose”, no “victory or defeat” – just believe, and give it your best shot.  That’s always a win.

So, wish me luck….. here we go!

  1. This blog is a fantastic idea! I admire you as a runner, and while I may think you're just a little bit crazy, I totally get it now (crazy really translates to mean badass)! It's reassuring to know that even an experienced, longer-distance runner as yourself has moments of doubt and lapses in motivation.
I look forward to reading about your journey. I have no doubt that you will rise to the challenge and succeed!
