‘Twas the Night before Traprock

Tomorrow morning is the Traprock 50k, which I signed up for a couple of months ago, before the “great knee caper of 2012”.  I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do the race, but my knee is feeling pretty good and so are my spirits.  The course is 3 10-ish mile loops, and it looks like a nice combo of technical trail, rolling singletrack, and less technical trail/road.  My goal is to do as much of the course as possible – hopefully at least one full lap, it would be fantastic to be able to do more!

I must admit, I’m pretty nervous about the prospect of doing any kind of running – my last couple of attempts have been pretty miserable.  I’m chomping at the bit to get back out in the woods and do some running, but I don’t want to do more damage by pushing it too soon. Being able to get a decent run in would be a huge mental boost.  My knee is feeling much better and I’m hopeful that things are turning around now, but seeing (or running?) is believing!

So, I’m spending tonight (in my head at least) pretending I’m running the whole thing tomorrow – I’ll let my leg make that decision for me once I’m there.  My bag is packed, food and drinks are portioned, the alarm is set….let’s do this! (or at least a little bit. I’ll take what I can get)
